 Located at the mid section of China' mainland coastline, Zhenhai is lying at the southern wing of Yangtze River Delta, and the Yong River's entrance to the East Sea. Being off-shore to Yong River and China's East Sea, Zhenhai is endued with the fame of “ the Gate of East Ningbo Municipality and Zhejiang Province ” . Covering an area of 218 km 2 , Zhenhai has a coastline of 21 km long. Under its jurisdiction, there are 2 townships and 4 sub-districts.
 In recent years, Zhenhai is making a full play of its advantages and promoting its developmet of off-shore and urban economy while pushing forward the optimizaton of industrial structure and the transformation of economic increase modes and paterns. At present, Zhenhai has Ningbo Chemical Industry Zone, Ningbo (Luo Tuo) Mechanical and Electronic Industry Zone and Zhenhai Economic Development Zone as its foundation of economic development and has basically formed its industry lines with the industry feature of chemistry, fine machinery, and electronic information. In 2005, the value of Zhenhai's tatal gross domestic product reached 10.6 billion RMB yuan. The local revenue tataled 1.02 billion RMB yuan. The disposable income for urban and rural residents reached 17408 RMB yuan and 8030 RMB yuan respectively.
Zhenhai's opening economy develops soundly and prosperously. The year 2005,has witnessed the approval of 58 foreign-funded enterprises. Among them, there are 18 foreign-funded enterprises each has the tatal investment of more than 10 million USD, with their total investment aounting to 657 million USD, and contractual foreign capital of 272 million USD. By the end of 2005, Zhenhai has altogether approved 729 foreign fundeed enterprises, with a total investment of 3 billion USD and the realized capital value of 730 billion USD. The tatal import and export value of 2005 reached 2.88 billion USD.
Looking into the future, In Ningbo's process of Zhenhai is in an unswerving step to promote "Five-Large-Project, namely industrial upgrading, urban progress, cultural development, ecologival Zhenhai, harmonous society" and build "Four-Bases, namely petro-chemical and machinery and electronics, off-shore logistics, higher-education and scientific reseearch, recreational tour"so as to build a higher standard of harmonous society and basically realize the modernization drive ahead of schedule .

 Zhenhai Economic Development Zone
Being a provincial-level industrial zone, Ningbo Chemical Industrial Zone is located at the north of Ningbo Municipality, south of Hangzhou Bay at its north and northwest of Zhenhai low beach and Beilun Port. It has a planed area of 56.22 square km, 5 square km of which has been developed. With the demand for the development of "openning style, higher starting point and cross century" and " being stable, rapid and healthy", Ningbo Chemical Industry Zone is to be developed into a zone with sustainable development, the balance of ptoduction and ecology, and hi-tech pollar industry.It is aso going to be developed into a petro-chemical industrial base with deep-processing and organic chemical material its feature, large projects of oil refinery and ethylene as reliance, which take alkene,aromatic as its main materias.
The building of Hangzhou Bay Cross Sea Bridge has brought enormous business opportunities for the zone's development.In addition, it enjoys enormous advances in geographicccal location, transportation, preferencial policies and complete infrastructure. To futher promote the zone's environment, the zone has set up the organization to provide 'complete-mode service' for investors. Zhenhai Economic Ddevelopment Zone
Set up in 1992, Zhenhai Economic Ddevelopment Zone is approved by Zhejiang People's Goverment as a provice-level zone with an innitial area of 9.22 square km and with an extended area of 34 square km. With reliance on Zhenhai's advantages in lacation, function and resources, the zone is fuctionally divided into four parks with the characteristics of fine machinery, hi-tech electronics ( Nordiak Industry Park), fine chemical industry, and storation and logistics.
At present, the zone is at the rapid pace of developing its characteristic and function parks with the aim of building a first class modernized and ecological zone. By the end of 2005, 655 enterprises have been set up in the zone. Among the above number, there are 266 foreign funded enterprises, with a total foreign capital of 1.04 billion USD and the actrual utilized foreign capital of 459 million USD.
